The Partners and Staff at the three offices of Capron & Helliwell Solicitors Stalham and Wroxham were extremely saddened to hear of the death of their work colleague and friend Mrs Wendy Brighton on 29 December 2018.
Wendy was an experienced Matrimonial Legal Executive and had been with the firm since August 2001 joining us initially to cover a work colleague’s maternity leave and then remaining with the firm from that date. She was primarily based at the firm’s Stalham office where she worked in the Matrimonial Department as the sole Matrimonial Lawyer expanding the Department and enabling it to grow when she was joined by her colleague Dawn Pennell and also worked closely with Tina Phillippo over many years. Wendy moved to the new Wroxham Helliwell House office to expand the Matrimonial Department at that office in September 2017 but was only based there a few months when cancer returned for the third time in her bones.
Wendy brought a great sense of humour to all the offices that she worked in and was always very upbeat and positive when in the office. She had a great number of interests and pursued those interests with her usual enthusiasm and positive nature. In particular for this firm Wendy, set up a link with the University of East Anglia which resulted in her supporting students at the University thinking of a career in the Law. It was through Wendy’s contacts at the UEA that the firm set up its Internship offering second and third year Law Students at the UEA the opportunity of work experience. As a result of Wendy’s commitment to this Internship, the firm has taken on a UEA Law Graduate as a permanent member of staff.
Everyone at Capron & Helliwell will miss Wendy’s welcoming smile and laughter and all of our thoughts are with Wendy’s husband Peter, her daughter Charlotte, son Jeremy and grandchildren Alfie and Lucas.
